Myr’Nora seeks to bring back more roleplaying elements to the MMORPG genre.
Limited by the technology of the late 90s, a lot of features within the genre were stripped away one by one. Removing much of what made the genre so great in the first place. The genre slipped into a whirlpool of copy/paste content and went further and further away from the main focus of the genre, to give the player a role-playing experience. Stormbreach was founded on the principles of creating a TRUE RPG experience, in an MMO.
“We want to take the genre in the direction in should’ve went years ago” says Daniel Montes, the developer behind Myr’Nora who wants to use modern technology to revive the genre.
Some key elements of Myr’Nora will be:
- No fast travel
- No mini-maps, only an in-game cartography tool to make your own way.
- No quest-markers, using your in-game journal you must make your own quests, explore, and investigate.
- Mounts will be bred, raised, and trained by players.
- Crafters will be important as the economy will be mostly player driven
