Square Enix Shares Info About the Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X|S Launch
Square Enix has officially announced the launch of Final Fantasy XIV for the Xbox Series X|S, set to start on Thursday, March 21, at 1:00 a.m. PDT. This release introduces the popular MMORPG to a new platform, extending its reach to Xbox gamers.
The game will be available in various editions to cater to different player preferences. The Online Starter Edition includes the base game, “A Realm Reborn,” and the first two expansions, “Heavensward” and “Stormblood.” For those interested in the latest content, the “Endwalker” expansion will also be available, which requires the Starter Edition to play. An “Endwalker Collector’s Edition” offers in-game bonus items for enthusiasts. The Complete Edition provides the most extensive package, containing all expansions up to “Endwalker,” and there’s also a Complete Collector’s Edition with all the in-game bonus items from the Collector’s Editions of previous expansions.
A Free Trial version offers new players the chance to experience the game up to level 70, including the “A Realm Reborn” and the first two expansions, without any time restrictions, albeit with certain in-game limitations.
The game can be purchased via the Microsoft Store. Playing the Xbox Series X|S version requires an Xbox Game Pass (Core or Ultimate), but the Free Trial is exempt from this requirement. Linking an Xbox account to a Square Enix account is necessary to access the game.
Instructions for open beta participants outline how to transition to the full version or continue with the Free Trial without needing to download the game again. New or existing players with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can download the Online Starter Edition for free until April 19.
For service fees and optional item purchases, the game introduces FFXIV Coins, purchasable through the Microsoft Store. These coins are credited to a player’s Square Enix Account upon logging into the Xbox Series X|S version of Final Fantasy XIV.
An Xbox Game Pass Ultimate perk temporarily offers the Starter Edition for free. Early purchases of certain editions will include bonus in-game items, such as the Wind-up Palom Minion and the Menphina earring, which boosts EXP gain for players up to level 80.
