FFXIV Warns Against Congestion on Endwalker Launch, Even with Recent Server Optimizations (Especially for Free Trial Players)
Just a few more days now until you can enjoy the next chapter in the Final Fantasy XIV saga, Endwalker. And as with any new release for such a popular title comes the flood of returning players, but even with recent server optimizations, Square Enix still expects server congestion and long queue times when the new expansion launches.
In preparation for these predictions, we optimized our servers ahead of the expansion’s launch in order to increase login caps. On the other hand, due to the ongoing global shortage of semiconductors we have previously mentioned, we were unable to add new Worlds before the release of Endwalker. The addition of new Worlds will still be considered as we procure the necessary server machines.
If you are playing the free trial of FFXIV and have been considering buying the full game, now might be a good time as paying players will be prioritized and free trial players will have to wait at the end of the line.
When a login queue is in place, players on the full version of the game will be prioritized for logging in. Free Trial characters will be able to log in after the login queue has been cleared. This allows us to prioritize our paying customers and will mean longer wait times for Free Trial users, but we would like to ask for your understanding on this matter.
Endwalker will release on December 7th, but players who pre-ordered the expansion can at least try to get in when Early Access kicks off on December 3rd
