Dragonriding To Be Made Available Beyond the Dragon Isles

World of Warcraft developer, Greyton, confirmed in a forum post that the popular dragonriding feature will soon be available outside of the Dragon Isles. This confirmation follows recent speculation from data miners, who had detected indications of the expansion in the game’s “Fractures in Time” files.

Dragonriding, a feature introduced in the Dragonflight expansion, allows players to fly on the back of uniquely customized dragons. There are four base types of dragons to choose from, each with over 50 customization options. The flight mechanics are dynamic, incorporating factors like momentum, with the ability for players to upgrade their flying skills, including speed. Until now, dragonriding has been limited to the Dragon Isles, with each of the four zones introducing a new type of dragon.

The developer clarified that while the initial work on expanding dragonriding is visible in the Fractures in Time game files, the feature will not be complete or available in the live game until later in the Dragonflight expansion.

Good day dragonriders,

As data-miners have guessed, we are indeed working on dragonriding outside of the Dragon Isles and broadening the set of mounts that can dragonride. Our initial work on this can be seen in the Fractures in Time game files, but that feature will not be complete or featured in the live game until later in Dragonflight.

As we continue to develop the game in this way, we expect there to be many examples in the future of content that is a work-in-progress becoming visible to data-miners in test environments. We intend to announce the contents of any given patch in our official posts about that patch.

Greyton also advised players to expect more instances of work-in-progress content appearing to data miners in testing environments as development continues. However, the developer assured players that official posts will announce the contents of any given patch.

Once unlocked, dragonriding will be accessible to all characters on a player’s account. This expansion of dragonriding signifies a thrilling development for WoW players, enhancing the game’s immersive experience and offering more opportunities for exploration and customization.
