Unchained Entertainment Emerges from City State Entertainment, Announces Advanced Game Development Engine

City State Entertainment has officially rebranded to Unchained Entertainment, a development led by the video game industry veteran Mark Jacobs. Alongside its rebranding, the company is preparing for the early access launch of its new title, Final Stand: Ragnarok, and the introduction of its next-generation game development engine, the Unchained Engine.

The rebranding to Unchained Entertainment signifies the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of massively multiplayer online gaming experiences. The move comes on the heels of significant funding rounds from A16Z GAMES, Island Capital, The Lauder Family, and others, aiming to expand Unchained Entertainment’s development team and technological capabilities.

The Unchained Engine, developed in-house, is poised to support a wide range of gameplay scenarios, from large-scale player versus environment (PvE) battles to player versus player (PvP) engagements, boasting the ability to handle thousands of simultaneous player interactions with high performance on a broad spectrum of hardware.

Mark Jacobs, the President and CEO of Unchained Entertainment, shared his vision for the engine, emphasizing its capacity to facilitate epic battles and immersive player experiences reminiscent of large-scale cinematic productions. This technology aims to redefine the scope of multiplayer interactions in video games, allowing for real-time, large-scale battles and environments.

The funding and strategic partnerships are set to enhance the company’s publishing and development efforts, with plans to launch Final Stand: Ragnarok in early access in March and the highly anticipated Camelot Unchained at a later date.
