Albion Online’s Game Director Robin Henkys has outlined the game’s development plans in the latest Dev Talk, which covers upcoming content and features, as well as the game’s long-term development strategy.
The short-term roadmap includes the Rites of Spring event, which will feature a new, bad-tempered counterpart to the Spring Cottontail, and the Beyond the Veil Content Patch, which will bring new features for the Mists, adjustments to the Roads of Avalon, and usability improvements. Henkys also teased a forthcoming Dev Talk that will focus on a central feature, “Dungeons in the Mists.”
Looking ahead, Albion’s development strategy will focus on three key areas: better basics, continuous content, and fantastic features. The team will work on improving core aspects of the game, such as the Marketplace experience, the Black Market, and the Stone market. They will also expand on existing features, including new gear choices for the “You are what you wear” system, new items for the Rites of Spring and the Content Patch, and a new weapon line for the Hunter tree. Finally, the team is working on new features that expand the scope of Albion, including legendary weapons and improved spell behavior around walls and height differences.
According to Henkys, Albion has become quite large and complex, requiring a development strategy that allows the team to maintain, improve, and revolutionize the game at the same time. The team will continue to focus on improving the game’s fundamentals while also introducing new content and features that keep the game fresh and engaging.
Albion Online’s new East server has already proven to be a hit with players, and the game’s development roadmap promises to keep players engaged and excited for what’s to come. Stay tuned for more Dev Talks covering these themes and Albion’s next major update.
