As 2023 winds down, the teams behind EverQuest and EverQuest II are gearing up for momentous celebrations in the coming year. Jenn Chan, Head of Studio, shared a nostalgic look back at the past year and teased exciting plans for 2024, a year that marks the 25th anniversary of EverQuest and the 20th anniversary of EverQuest II.
EverQuest: Celebrating 25 Years of Adventure
EverQuest, a pioneer in the MMORPG genre, is approaching a significant milestone in 2024, its 25th anniversary. The team has announced “The Year of Darkpaw: An EverQuest Celebration,” promising a year filled with special events and activities. This includes giveaways like the classic style Orc Warrior metamorph wand and new collections highlighting nostalgic zones in EverQuest’s history, along with a limited-time Argent Clockwork Bear Saddle.
2023 saw substantial updates to EverQuest, including the release of Laurion’s Song, the game’s 30th expansion, which introduced a level cap increase to 125, Alternate Personas, new zones, collections, quests, missions, spells, and AAs. The year also featured the launch of Oakwynd, a unique TLP, and additions to several in-game events like Erollisi Day and Brew Day.
EverQuest II: 20 Years of Enchantment
Turning 20 in 2024, EverQuest II will join its predecessor in the Year of Darkpaw celebration. The game has already seen significant additions in 2023, including the 20th expansion, Ballads of Zimara, which introduced Chrono Dungeons and an Advanced Researcher. Other notable releases were Empire of Antiquities, Shattered Overture, and Fractured Skies.
The Swag Store, a new addition in 2023, offers a range of EverQuest II merchandise, including mousepads, t-shirts, and coffee mugs. The game also saw the launch of Zarrakon, a new PvP server, and various updates to in-game events like the Chronoportal Phenomenon and Brewday Festival.
Looking Ahead to 2024
For both games, 2024 is set to be a year of celebration and reflection. EverQuest II will kick off the year with giveaways like Maxembert the Feisty, a new pet, and the launch of five new fabled collections. The Darkpaw Celebrator Katrynn will introduce new items, and players can look forward to new missions, achievements, and the “Masquerades of Divinity” event.
