Twin Drums Announces Closure of The Wagadu Chronicles Due to Financial Challenges
Twin Drums has declared the closure of their project, The Wagadu Chronicles , citing financial difficulties as the primary reason. The announcement came through a recent update from Allan, a representative of the Twin Drums team, who detailed the economic struggles that led to this decision.
The company, recognized for its integration of Afrofantasy themes with traditional gaming mechanics, faced significant challenges from global economic conditions, including the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and inflation, which severely affected their funding and operational capacity.
Despite these hurdles, Twin Drums has managed to complete several final digital products for their backers. These include a 770-page D&D compatible setting book titled “7th Era,” a 30-page PDF titled “The Guide for Afrofantasy,” and a 240-page artbook PDF that showcases the artistic development of The Wagadu Chronicles. The MMO has been accessible in early access since December, but will see its servers shut down on May 18th.
