Kakao Games Confirms 2025 Launch for ArcheAge 2 and Chrono Odyssey, Targets 2024 for Path of Exile 2

Kakao Games has released its first financial report for 2024, revealing a mix of results for the first quarter. The company experienced a slight decline in revenue of 1.2% compared to the same period last year, but noted a 2.6% increase from the previous quarter. The decline was attributed mainly to its non-game business sectors, while its gaming division remained relatively stable.

The report highlighted significant developments regarding the company’s upcoming MMORPG projects, particularly ArcheAge 2 and Chrono Odyssey, which are both scheduled for a 2025 release. This news is a shift from previous statements which suggested a potential delay for ArcheAge 2 beyond 2025. The confirmation of the 2025 target date is likely to be well-received by both investors and ArcheAge players following the recent shutdown of the once-popular sandbox MMO.

Chrono Odyssey and ArcheAge 2 are part of Kakao Games’ broader strategy to enhance its presence in the MMORPG market, with both games set for release on PC and console platforms. The report also mentioned other projects set for 2025, including Project S, Project Q, and Ares: Rise of Guardians, all aiming for a global release.

The upcoming closure of the original ArcheAge in North America and Europe was also noted, with June marked as the end date. This move is part of a transition plan to introduce ArcheAge 2, which aims to blend familiar elements from its predecessor with new features to attract a broader audience.

In the nearer term, Kakao Games is preparing for the release of Path of Exile 2, expected in the second half of 2024. This follows a delay in the game’s beta phase, now rescheduled for later this year.
