EVE Fanfest 2023 Celebrates Two Decades of Intergalactic Adventure
Space simulation fans from around the world are prepping for warp as EVE Online’s Fanfest returns to Iceland’s capital from September 21-23. This year’s edition marks the 20th anniversary of the famed multiplayer online game, and it’s packing a schedule to rival all previous iterations.
A Journey to Forever
The Fanfest festivities kick off at Gróska, CCP Games’ headquarters, on September 21 and continue at Laugardalshöll Arena on the following two days. Fans can pre-register and pick up their event passes at specified times across the three days.
Streams, Keynotes, and Galactic Shenanigans
For those who can’t make the journey to Iceland, the entire event will be live-streamed on CCPTV starting on September 22 at 9:45 AM UCT. Expect major announcements, developer interviews, player interactions, and even Twitch Drops for viewers. The Keynote address, slated for September 22 at 15:00 UTC, will feature special localized streams catering to EVE Online’s global community.
Activities Galore
This year’s program is brimming with activities, both in Gróska and Laugardalshöll Arena. From exclusive looks at concept art to meeting artists and developers, attendees will be treated to an unprecedented EVE Online experience. Various events supporting charity, a silent auction of exclusive EVE swag, and even a section for player-created artwork are planned.
Drinks, Distilleries, and Trade Hubs
Fanfest is not just about the game; it’s also about the culture surrounding it. Collaborations with Lady Brewery will yield a special festival lager beer crafted with “galactic hops and nebula malt.” Additionally, a special collector’s whisky and gin set by Eimverk Distillery will commemorate the game’s 20-year milestone.
The Trade Hub at the Laugardalshöll Arena will serve as a bustling focal point, offering attendees a chance to buy EVE-themed merchandise and other home accessories.
Party at the Top of the World
A highlight of the Fanfest will be a high-energy closing party on September 23, featuring Icelandic sensation Daði Freyr. Also taking the stage will be EVE Galactic DJs and other live performances, ensuring an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Extra Events for the Extraordinary
Beyond the main venue, a variety of extra events including bar mixers, walking tours, and Northern Lights explorations will be available. A few of these events still have tickets available for those looking to extend their Fanfest journey.
For fans who can’t make it to Iceland, the good news is that the main events will be live-streamed, offering everyone a chance to participate in this galactic celebration.
