Uncover the Horrors of Hermaeus Mora’s Daedric Realm in the Upcoming ESO Expansion
The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) team has unveiled a chilling preview of the monstrous inhabitants that players will encounter in the upcoming Necrom Chapter, as they traverse the twisted realm of Hermaeus Mora, known as Apocrypha. As part of the Shadow Over Morrowind adventure, the Necrom Chapter is set to launch on June 5, 2023, for PC/Mac, and June 20, 2023, for Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Apocrypha, the Daedric Prince’s dominion, is home to creatures ranging from the bizarre to the terrifying. The developers have shared insights into four of these cursed creatures, that will play key roles in this vast sea of forbidden knowledge.
Seekers: These levitating, tentacled Daedra are the loyal servants of Hermaeus Mora, tending to the endless stacks of tomes and loose pages scattered throughout Apocrypha. ESO Loremaster, Michael Zenke, warns that they are highly protective of their lord’s trove of unfathomable lore and will not hesitate to eliminate any intruders. A unique variant, known as the Prime Cataloguer, resides in the Libram Cathedral, offering a formidable challenge for groups of daring adventurers.
Lurkers: These unsightly beasts are rumored to emerge from the abyssal pools that form Apocrypha’s foundation. Despite their hulking frames, they possess an unnatural speed and an insatiable desire to consume. Players are warned to be wary of a titanic Lurker, “Vro-Kuul-Sha,” who resides in the Deepreave Quag. Those brave enough to slay it can expect great rewards.
Hushed: These pitiful beings are believed to be former mortal loreseekers, now reduced to husks after exposure to the boundless secrets of Mora’s realm. While their minds may be destroyed, they retain their life skills and abilities, and in some cases, have even unlocked new powers at the cost of their sanity.
Mind Terrors: These nightmarish monstrosities instill fear into the hearts of mortals. Oddly distinct from the realm’s other inhabitants, they seem to act in opposition to the Prince’s goals. One particular Mind Terror, the Walking Nightmare, has broken free of any control and now runs rampant in the Telvanni Peninsula. Adventurers can face this beast in the Nightmare Den.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom is available for pre-purchase now, offering unique bonus rewards at launch and immediate access to the Sadrith Mora Spore Steed mount. Are you prepared to plunge into the accursed realm of Hermaeus Mora?
