New World Launches and Hits 700K Concurrent Players on Steam
The biggest MMO launch of the year is now behind us as Amazon Game Studios’ New World is live! The title peaked at over 700K current players on Steam right behind Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and ahead of Dota.
High numbers at launch are very common in MMOs though and it will be interesting to see where the number settles a few weeks in.
Another thing that is common during MMO launches is problems and New World has had a few today, mostly due to long queues. The worlds are capped at 2000 players and people have been reporting queues of up to 25.000 players.
The global naming rule has also been causing some issues as players have been trying to reserve names for their friends only to find out that names are locked to accounts for 90 days after deleting a character
Due to the issues game currently has mixed reviews on Steam.
