The Maze is a Co-op RPG

The Maze: Humanity has a gripping and terrifying premise. You are in a maze with an ever-changing layout.

The players’ minds drive these changes as their thoughts and memories influence the shape of the maze. And if that wasn’t enough, the place is filled with creatures whose favorite food is Human.

To make things even more interesting, the game doesn’t reveal the purpose of the maze from the beginning.

The game has a dual-character system that allows players to combine classes.

While most VR games are first-person, Archgate provides a third-person experience. VR third-person games are much more comfortable and Archgate is designed for long playing sessions, so this might be the VR MMO to lose yourself in for hours.

The graphics are amazing. The team is working with an artist whose area of expertise is ambient music to create an immersive experience.

Archgate has a political system that allows players to acquire power by democratic means or settle the score on the PvP battlefield.

Dungeons support four-member parties. PvP scenarios, such as Domination and Capture the Flag, have the same setup.

Riding a gryhon in VR is something you don’t want to miss.

A Township Tale is more of a multiplayer game than a VRMMO, but we have plenty of reasons to include it on this list. Not all MMO players are after large-scale social interaction. Some just want to play with a bunch of friends and ATT lets you do just that.

Players can host servers for up to eight members.

The character system is based on professions. You can become a warrior, blacksmith, cook, and even a janitor.

Ilysia has a classic fantasy look

Ilysia is a Kickstarter story with a happy end. The studio got almost four times more than they’ve requested in the first place so it’s safe to say that the VRMMORPG managed to capture the gamers’ attention even in its early development stage.

Ilysia’s world is made of Kingdoms. Each Kingdom has a unique environment, quests, challenges, and world bosses known as Guardians.

Players travel between Kingdoms using their caravans. This is the game’s housing feature as players can personalize their caravans.

Ramen VR brings us one of the best VRMMOs on the market today

From San Francisco-based Ramen VR, we have Zenith. This virtual reality MMO takes inspiration from Asian entertainment. The graphics are anime-ish and the gameplay has JRPG features. That’s what you get from a company named Ramen.

The game has a fantasy open world that invites players to explore it. No location is inaccessible as you can climb and glide.

The action-based combat allows players to wield swords and cast spells.

Other features include class customization with skills, instanced dungeons, quests, world bosses, and guilds.

Zenith is dead. Ramen killed it on Feb 2, 2024.

Also, Ilysia not only doesn't look like that, it DOESN'T have a happy end, and neither does Zenith. Both games are buggy, ugly, play like crap, and have a terrible community.

Did you even play the games you reviewed? Most of these are complete garbage.

I don't understand how even if there are such incredible graphics on some single player VR games, that look like actual reality, all the MMO VR games look like dated junk in comparison to the best Single player VR games or in comparison to PC flat screen MMORPGs that got thousands of players per server. Bring us a REAL mmorpg in VR, see what works that keeps players in Final Fantasy, Lineage, Guild Wars, New World, Destiny, Warframe and many others and make something in VR. And I am constantly astonished to see content creators describe Ilysia, Zenith and others with Incredible Graphics, Astonishing effects, models etc. When I look at the videos it looks like someone resurrected something from 1995... People, how you want customers to adopt VR and buy 1000 euros headsets and powerful PC rigs to play that?

Sorry for the ramble, but I am an MMORPG player and although loved to test Beat Saber and 1-2 games in VR, sadly I sold my headset instead of letting it collect dust, since my favourite genre, the MMORPG, is nonexistant in the VR world to the standards of graphics, gameplay, skills, customisation and mechanics of 2023 MMORPGs. So far for me, VR worths if you wanna play some fitness games, simulator games or watch Netflix or some other streams.

@Dan,

I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment. I played Ultima and WoW and a couple other MMOs for a long time. They are the only games I can spend any serious time learning and enjoying. These screenshots make me not even consider buying an updated rig and headset.
